A North Texas developer preparing to break ground on a McKinney building that will be one of that Collin County community’s largest new office projects.
Kaizen Development Partners is building the eight-story speculative building at the northeast corner of State Highway 121 and Alma Road.
“We will be starting towards the end of March on our McKinney project,” Kaizen CEO Derrick Evers said. “We named it District 121.”
Kaizen Development first disclosed plans for the McKinney building last year. But while other new office deals have stalled during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kaizen has moved ahead with its project.
Kaizen Development has a track record of building successful office projects in nearby Allen and has a building under construction in Dallas’ Uptown district.
The firm’s latest development is being built with the help of the McKinney Economic Development Corp. in the Craig Ranch community.
Architect Perkins & Will designed the 200,000-square-foot District 121 office building. The project will include a fitness center, conference facilities and tenant lounge.
JLL’s Blake Shipley and Lauren Perry are marketing the building to tenants.
The project is scheduled to open in spring 2022.
The District 121 building is one of several new office projects on the way in the Highway 121 corridor in McKinney and Allen.
