Little Elm Independent School District has opened up its latest addition — an $18 million STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) academy — with the new school year.
The Prestwick Science, Technology, Engineering and Math academy is the first of its kind in Texas, and is serving students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The academy sits at the southeast corner of Denton County at 3101 Stonefield Drive in The Colony. The district encompasses 40 square miles of area.
The parents within the school district like the layout of the school, which gives them the ability to see their children learning throughout the building, Acting Superintendent of Schools Matthew Gutierrez said.
